Went late on a Saturday evening after a concert and what a fun place! So many levels and areas to hang out each with an easy to access bar! I enjoyed a nice brew from their large selection! Will definitely be back
We stopped by the Tailor Public House after show at The Garden. The bartender was busy taking care of the entire bar & restaurant. Friends enjoyed wings & I went with the bartender recommendation of chicken tacos, which were filled with grilled chicken, avocado, tomatoes, lettuce & came with salsa & sour cream. Also enjoyed Jameson & ginger ale & house red ale. Great late night service at the bar
Great Irish pub in the Garment District. The atmosphere is exactly what you'd want. Good selection of beers on tap. The chicken curry is exceptionally tasty, the fries on top are an interesting twist. Highly recommended. I came back a second night. Did not disappoint. Bartenders Sam & Jon are very friendly and super on it. Treat them well when you stop in.
4 stars for being just the right place for us 2 gals (in NYC for a long fun girls weekend) to go for a late night bite to eat in the City (midtown near MSG and literally just around the corner from our hotel. Just so happened that our trip coincided with the NHL Stanley Cup playoff series between the NY Rangers and FLA Panthers AND Game 6 (a "must win" for the Rangers) was happening at MSG just down the street with an outdoor / streets-closed-off public viewing party only blocks away right outside MSG. It was a wild fun night to be out for sure. We had walked by this place several times already during our visit and decided this would be the place to be "in the fray" for Game 6. We so wanted to experience what it would be like to be part of the NYC frenzy cheering on one of the City's beloved sports teams. We walked in around 9PM mid way through the game and into a fun, lively, spirited crowd eyes-glued to the zillions of tv screens above the bar and on all the walls. Miraculously, there was a just-vacated 2 seater high top table right before us in the front bar area so we grabbed it. This place is what you would think of when you think classic city bar/pub. No pretense or "trying to look like" type of place. This is the real deal. Lots of dark wood, low dimmed lighting, clean and neat but not pristine and a fun-loving (respectful) clientele out to have a good time and root for their home team. It was the perfect spot to be in for the perfect occasion. We were out that night mainly for the ambience and to be part of the crowd that night - less for the food - but we decided to split a NY Strip Steak Sandwich which came with fries. The Ceispy Brussel Sprouts plate (a side sub) sounded yummy and you don't see them on the menu all too often so we ordered a plate to share. Then we threw down a few draft brews between us. Perfect. Everything came out piping hot, well plated and without an inordinate wait (impressive for how crowded the place was). The steak sandwich was hefty in size and delicious. Shareable for sure for 2 girls that weren't ravenous. Decent portion of fries - also shareable. The crispy brussel sprouts were crispy but not overly so, seasoned nicely and also perfect to share. Service was very good. Hostess and our server were super nice, attentive and responsive (again, especially given how busy a night it was). The staff is attuned to the fact that people want to come in, get a bite to eat, enjoy some drinks and hang - either to watch a game, enjoy good time with friends or both. So, with all intentions of wanting to stay until the game finished up, we never felt rushed or pressured to eat and run. Lovvvvvve that. Prices were frankly reasonable FOR NYC. Our shared meal (steak sandwich with fries, brussel sprout app and 3 drafts) cost us $60 before tip. You tell me - is that reasonable for a night out in NYC, sharing a bite to eat and having a few drinks over a couple hours hanging out watching a game and basking in a pub full of fun-loving raucous New Yorkers (exactly what we had envisioned the night to be like)? I guess the one caveat I would say about Tailor Public House is that, with sooooo many authentic NY bars and pubs housed in probably every nook and cranny in the City, this isn't a place I would intentionally seek out and travel to (ride share, subway) unless I was within walking distance and around the corner from it (like we were). This pub was good and fun and well patronized but I'm so sure there are many others like it in every corner of the city and, especially if you're a visitor, I would definitely recommend seeking those out to experience a pub-night at least once on your trip.
Stopped for lunch. Service was good. Food came relatively quickly. I had a Reuben sandwich and my lunch companion had the tuna. Both were very good. Took a little bit of effort to find a server to check out but that was the only hitch. Would definitely return
